Highlights for Hope is a pink highlight campaign dedicated to raising funds and awareness for cancer research, education, and support. Pink hair extensions are woven into supporter’s hair as an uplifting and identified expression of their commitment and serve as visible tributes to the strength and courage of individuals affected by cancer.

Fundraising and scope

Ten dollars of the cost from each ‘highlight’ is donated to the Canadian Cancer Society, which has so far totaled over $65 000 in contributions by Highlights for Hope participants. Our main focus is the Canadian Cancer Society, although we do raise funds for other cancer related organizations and individuals dealing with cancer.  Due to the tremendous response, what began as a local independent project in Thunder Bay, Ontario has expanded to eight other Ontario communities, including Sudbury, Fort Frances, Sioux Lookout, Toronto, Ottawa, as well as Brandon, Manitoba, with recent interest expressed in additional centers across Canada.
